December 2018

31 December 2018

December has been a bit of a write-off when it comes to doing anything productive on the shop. I'm feeling really guilty. This afternoon, I'm going to write the best-ever to-do list ... for January.

27 December 2018

Back in the flat! First, a relaxing day filled with all those Christmas traditions I've missed this year. Starting with me and Mr Darcy, a cuppa and a box of Toffifee.

Then I will get back to shop preparations. I promise.

FFS. On Sunday night (17 December), I discovered water dripping into my flat from the ceiling. Four days later, the water is still dripping. They can't figure out what's wrong. I'm not filled with confidence that this is being treated as an emergecy. Okay, it's not gushing with water but it is water none-the-less. Why are the plumbers heading home at 17:00 each night while I have to live in a hotel?

Oh, yeah. I'm in a hotel because the water took out the heating and hot water unit. And it looks like I'm going to be in a hotel for Christmas. And possibly new year.

So much for a relaxing break to prepare for a busy January.

It's been a slow month for progress on the shop. After getting back from Scotland, it's been back to the 'day job' at full throttle. I do communications for an organisation going through a significant re-structure, which means my work schedule is a bit of a rollercoaster. Add in preparing for Christmas and, well, the shop hasn't had much love in recent weeks.

That said, there's a bit of a lull until I go to the trade fair next month. Deciding which stock to buy and actually starting to buy it will be the trigger for setting up bank accounts, building the website, etc. I'm looking forward to some time off over Christmas to review my to-do list and getting ready for a much more productive January!
